Iran aims to promote disabled sports and support individuals with disabilities by launching the disabled movement, allowing greater participation in social activities.
NPC celebrates the National Day of Disabled every year, which represents the occasion for the seventeenth time in October 2024.
The event was held for the first time in 2003 across the country. After the success of previous publications and positive comments from the National Week of the Disabled last year, today it was officially included in the national calendar in 2014.
Thousands of young people with disabilities and visual weakness participated in the country, trying many sports and meeting Iranian athletes. This week was supported by the Agitos Foundation, the ICRC development arm, which provided funding through the grant support program.
During the National Week of the Disabled, athletes worked to provide and enhance sport to individuals who suffer from weakness in schools, universities and the media, as well as within their families, to enhance the concept of sport for all.
Wilfred Limk, Special Adviser to the Secretary -General of the United Nations Sports for Development and Peace, attended the event held at Azadi Stadium in Tehran in 2014.
The Iranian poor won equality with a total of 185 medals (75 gold, 58 silver and 52 bronze) across all disabled versions.
