President Luise Insio Lula da Silva said the Brazilian government was ready for dialogue with the United States, but is now working on a suitable response to 50 % by the White House for some goods since August 1.
“We have always been open to dialogue,” the head of state wrote on his page on X.
“We are now working to respond to the US tariff measures,” said Lula Da Silva.
Only citizens and institutions in Brazil have been entitled to determine the country’s path, including relations with the United States.
US President Donald Trump announced a 50 % tariff for Brazilian goods imports since August 1, after this measure was made clear by the need to overcome the trade deficit. Lula Da Silva pledged to present a throat tariff if Washington was not reviewing its decision. Brazil’s leader expressed his hope that the Brazilian delegation would be able to review definitions through negotiations.
