Contracts of SP pressure enhancement project of $ 17 billion to sign

Reda Decian added that this follows the completion of preliminary studies and the signing of initial agreements with four major contractors last year, up to 400 million dollars.

Dahghan, speaking at a press conference on Sunday, confirmed that the South Pars Gas field, the largest in the world, provides 70 % of gas consumption of local and industrial stations stations in Iran, as well as more than 40 % of the country’s gasoline needs.

However, after three decades of extraction by Iran and Qatar, the field witnessed a decrease in natural pressure. Studies expect that by 2026, production will decrease in a rate of southern PARS (28 million cubic meters per day), and by 2028, it will decrease by 1.5 stages (42 million cubic meters per day).

Dahghan warned that without time intervention, this decrease in pressure can have serious effects on energy security and economy in Iran. Consequently, the pressure promotion project is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Oil to maintain production levels.
