Al Jazeera quoted Erdogan as saying in a press conference in the Turkish capital, Ankara: “The Israeli government must not be allowed to violate the ceasefire.”
Erdogan said that the world “must bear its legal and moral responsibilities towards the people of Gaza.”
He added: “Despite the loss of more than 50,000 martyrs, most of them women and children, Gaza did not surrender, could not be subjugated, and the people of Gaza did not bow to the oppressors.”
A ceasefire agreement was reached in the Gaza Strip mediated by Qatar, the United States, and Egypt, and is supposed to enter into force on Sunday, January 19. In the first phase of this agreement, which is scheduled to last for 42 days after two days, Hamas will hand over 33 Zionist prisoners (living and dead) in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners.
