Trade between Tehran and Baku rises by 20% in one year (official)



This was stated by the Head of the International Affairs Department of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Amin Tarfa, on Tuesday at the beginning of the 16th meeting of the Joint Economic Committee between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The value of trade exchanges between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2024 was estimated at about $580 million, a growth of 20 percent compared to the same period last year.

Both parties estimated the volume of trade exchange between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2023 at approximately $480 million.

He stressed that Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have great potential to enhance trade between them in all fields, especially in the field of transportation and infrastructure.

Elsewhere in his statements, he referred to the operation of the Astara border bridge and stated that the construction process of the “New Agband Bridge” is underway and that the construction process of the “Aras Corridor” to connect Azerbaijan with Iran via roads and railways is underway.

Tarfa referred to the areas of joint cooperation between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in the fields of energy, and indicated that various issues will be discussed in the committee in the fields of electricity, oil, gas, and banks.
