Al-Abadi and his accompanying delegation were received by Iraqi Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel upon their arrival at Baghdad International Airport on Sunday evening.
The two sides are scheduled to discuss developing cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the field of energy and ways to ensure its stability.
This visit comes after an official visit last week by the Iraqi government delegation headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to Tehran.
On the sidelines of the government meeting, Al-Abadi held discussions with Fadel on Thursday, and they discussed electrical exchanges and the export of technical and engineering services related to the industry.
The main issues addressed at the meeting included the repair of 5,000 transformers in Iraq, the participation of Iranian companies in supplying equipment, the construction and repair of power plants, and the importance of training and knowledge exchange.
During the meeting, the Iraqi minister also called on Iranian companies to contribute to the Iraqi electricity sector. It was also agreed that Al-Abadi would follow up on the topics discussed during his visit to Iraq, including the private sector.
