On the sidelines of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he said: “Fortunately, the problem of air travel was solved between Tehran and Dashnbi in the administration of President Mason Bouchakian.”
On January 28, Tehran and Doshanbe reached a bilateral agreement to waive the visa requirements for air travel between the cities of the capital.
The new policy, approved by the Iranian Cabinet, will enter into force on February 3, 2025.
It allows the citizens of Iran and Tajikistan to carry ordinary passports to travel between Tehran and Doshanbe without a visa. Travelers can stay for up to 30 days in a period of 90 days.
The initiative aims to enhance diplomatic, cultural and economic relations between the two countries and help enhance exchanges between people.
Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan signed up to 13 cooperation documents in Doshanbe on Wednesday in various fields to expand bilateral relations.
The documents were signed as part of the Iranian Tajikistan Business Forum in Doshanby, where it headed the Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, and Tourism, Reza Salhi Amiri, an Iranian commercial delegation.
Salehi Amiri indicated that the number of people visiting Iran visit 8,000 annually and 8,500 Iranian people also visit Tajikistan.
He added that the two countries agreed to increase bilateral visits to 100,000 annually.
