The Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICIMA) said in a report on Saturday that exports from the country to Africa increased by 2.2 times in the four evaluation months to late July compared to the same period last year.
ICCIMA was cited with a statement of MASoud Barahman, a senior businessman who oversees trade between Iran and African countries, which showed that exports to Africa have expanded over the past five months to cover more markets.
Bahhan said that the number of African countries importing non -Iranian goods had risen to 34, from 29 reported in March.
He said that Iranian exports to Africa will increase in the coming months with increasing charging activity and reducing customs regulations.
The figures of the Iranian customs office, which was released in July, showed that Iranian exports to African countries increased by 85 % year on year in the three months until late June to 260 million dollars.
Iran has called on dozens of government officials and business leaders from African countries to a major conference for economic cooperation held in Tehran in late April.
The conference gave Iran a great opportunity to expand export markets in Africa, as it seeks to strengthen a foothold in the near future.
Iran is in line with the expansion of trade relations with Africa with the country’s broader efforts to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil export revenues.
