China offers a second advanced submarine to Pakistan



The media wing of the army said that the Pakistani navy launched its second divers from the Hangor category, PNS Shushuk, at a ceremony held in China on March 15, 2025.

The event was attended by high -ranking officials from both countries, with the deputy of Admiral Awais Ahmed Bilgrami, Vice President of the Naval Staff, as the main guest, according to ISPR.

During the ceremony, Deputy Admiral Bilgrami stressed the importance of maritime security and the role of the Pakistani navy in protecting national interests and preserving a favorable marine environment.

He said: “This project will undoubtedly add a new dimension to the friendship of Pak China,” which highlights the strategic importance of the submarine program.

Hangor submarines are a major component of Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its naval fleet and enhance their defensive capabilities in the Indian Ocean.

The project is part of an agreement signed between Pakistan and China during the Chinese President’s visit to Pakistan, which includes the acquisition of eight Hangor submarines.

Under the agreement, four submarines will be built in China, while the remaining four will be built in the Karachi shipyard according to the TOT transportation arrangement.
