The couple was scheduled to be at the International Space Station for only eight days, but because of the technical problems with the experimental spacecraft they reached, they were there for more than nine months.
Astronomers are scheduled to start their journey to Earth later this week. Steve Stic, director of the NASA’s commercial staff program, said he is pleased with the possibility.
“Boch and Sony did a great job and we are excited to return them,” he said.
Astronomers, along with their colleagues in ISS, and Nick The Hague from NASA and Rosskosmos, Alexander Gorbonov, will be exposed by four astronauts, from Russia, Japan and two from the United States.
There will be a delivery for two days and then the old crew is scheduled to start their trip to the ground. But there can be another small delay, as they are waiting for the conditions to be suitable for the safe re -entry of the returning capsule, according to Dana Weael, the director of the ISS program.
“The weather should always cooperate, so we will take our time in that if that is not favorable,” she told reporters.
The lady, Winjal, explained that astronauts began preparing for delivery last week.
She said: “Boch ran a festive bell while Sony handed the leadership of the astronaut Alexei Ovchinin.”
Space pioneers constantly said they are happy to be on the space station, as Sony Williams described it as a “happy place.” But Dr. Simyon Barber, from the Open University, told BBC News that there is likely to be a personal cost.
“When you are sent on a business trip, you are supposed to last a week, you do not expect to take the best part of the year,” he said.
“This extended residence in space will disrupt family life, and things will occur in the homeland that you will miss, so there will be a period of turmoil.”
Butch and Suni arrived at ISS at the beginning of June 2024 to test a experimental spacecraft called Starliner, which was built by Aerospace Boeing, a competition for Spacex.
The mission was late for several years due to technical problems in the development of the spacecraft, and there were problems during its launch and anchor on ISS. This included problems with some Starliner cannons, which will be necessary to slow down the spacecraft to re -enter the Earth’s atmosphere, and helium gas leaks in the payment system.
