The company said that the production of Iranian steel could have reached new records last year if the steel producers saved a sufficient amount of energy.

She said that the country could have reached the seventh place of the tenth place in the global ranking of the main steel producers last year if energy supplies were resolved.

Worldsteel data showed that steel production in Turkey surpassed Iran in 2024, when the country’s production increased by 9.4 % throughout the year, which is the highest among the 10 large steel producers in the world.

Iran became the seventh largest producer in the world in November, with 3.1 million metric tons of production, an increase of 0.1 % over the same month in 2023.
