The G7 urges full implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza

The European Council website stated: “We, the leaders of the G7, fully support and will stand behind the ceasefire agreement reached between Hamas and the Zionist regime.”

The statement continued: “This is an important development that will ensure the release of all remaining hostages, facilitate urgently needed humanitarian assistance, and pave the way for civilians to return to their homes and rebuild their lives.”

“With a ceasefire soon to be reached, it is also important that we seize this opportunity to put an end to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, where conditions continue to deteriorate.

We call on all parties to allow safe, rapid and unhindered passage of humanitarian aid and to ensure the protection of civilians, including humanitarian workers. International humanitarian law must be respected. We reiterate our commitment to continue providing humanitarian assistance and initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza with the support of the international community.

We reaffirm our support for a credible path towards peace that leads to a two-state solution where Palestinians live side by side in peace, dignity and security.

More than a year of war and conflict has destroyed critical infrastructure in Gaza and imposed serious challenges on the lives of millions of innocent people.

The statement indicated that it is now necessary for the reconstruction of Gaza to take place under the supervision of international institutions and in full coordination.
